Children's Choir
Wendover Singers Children’s Choir was founded in autumn 2022 as a 20-week pilot scheme. We welcomed 20 children from Wendover and the surrounding villages to come together and sing every week. At the end of the 20 weeks, we had generated so much interest that we continued and to date have encouraged over 40 children to come along and try it out.
Children are led by our Musical Director Jill Neenan, and supported by our Children’s Choir Manager, Safeguarding Lead and Children’s Choir mentors who volunteer their time to support the children in their singing, musical learning and development.
Songs are rehearsed each Monday afternoon at John Colet School, working from a wide repertoire of popular and well-known songs, some which cross-over with the adult's choir enabling them to perform with the adults at key concerts and showcases. The children particularly love performing in public at various local events and for the second year now they will come together with the adult choir to take part in our biggest concert on the calendar.
Our initial group of children have grown in confidence since the early days and routinely volunteer to sing solos and encourage their friends to join. With the help of local grants and funding keep our membership fees low and provide music scores and other supplies free of charge.
